I’ve downloaded the Debian bootable image, followed the instructions on modification, and I have no boot. Can you just make a bootable image available? There are some vague instructions on installing the TI SDK, and I have to work through several issues with dependencies. It looks like things built and installed properly, but I have no signs of life. I’d like to start with something that is actually known to work.
PaulB,
There are a couple of bootable images for OSD62-PM-BRK available here: https://octavosystems.com/octavo_products/osd62-pm-brk/#software. Please feel free to post on the forum about any issues you are encountering. We can address them here.
Best,
Neeraj
I need a little clarification. Are these images bootable as is, or do I need to follow the instructions that follow on modifying the bebian or ti image? I had interpreted the instructions as download either the debian or ti (I downloaded the debian) and then follow the instructions on github to download the ti sdk, apply patches, build u-build and dtbs, and then apply those to the image. So far, I have failed to create a bootable image starting with these images and then applying the modds.
Please check your debian image. The “here” button that page links to a OSD32MP15x_RED.zip file. It took me a couple times to download your debian image, and when I put on an SD, I get absolutely nothing from the serial console port. Looking at the FAT partition in Windows, I can see it is garbage. I used Balena Etcher in Windows. I’ll try dd tomorr, but with the difficulties I had downloading the image, I’m not supremely confident the image itself is not corrupt.
My attempts using the Github modification instructions yielded this error:

I’ve downloaded again, but same result. No errors imaging the SD. FAT partition looks normal in Windows. I’d say the posted image doesn’t work.
the Debian image does work with a SanDisk Ultra 32GB SD card. I will need support for larger SD cards in the future. If Etcher fails its check then you have a corrupted download. It will pass with a larger SD, but then u-boot will fail.
PaulB,
Here are answers to your questions:
-
Are these images bootable as is, or do I need to follow the instructions that follow on modifying the bebian or ti image?
[Octavo]: Yes, these images on OSD62-PM-BRK should boot without any modification. -
Please check your debian image. The “here” button that page links to a OSD32MP15x_RED.zip file.
[Octavo]: Thank you for pointing out the incorrect link. We migrated to a new website and we are working out some kinks. Our apologies and please bear with us. The link for the debian image should be correct now.
3.I used Balena Etcher in Windows. I’ll try dd tomorr, but with the difficulties I had downloading the image, I’m not supremely confident the image itself is not corrupt.
[Octavo]: We have reports from 1 other customer about troubles with Etcher. It seems to be random related to the host machine they are using, as some machines seem to work. We have updated the images from .xz compression to .zip, which seemed to resolve issues for now.
We would appreciate if you can post any error messages you receive from Etcher when flashing.
- the Debian image does work with a SanDisk Ultra 32GB SD card. I will need support for larger SD cards in the future. If Etcher fails its check then you have a corrupted download. It will pass with a larger SD, but then u-boot will fail.
[Octavo]: One thing to check is if your SD card is UHS-1 capable. The size of the image is 12GB and you should be able to use cards that are >32GB. I think I have a couple laying around, I will test and report back.
Thanks for the updates - please feel free to report more feedback as you encounter any issues. I will be monitoring this forum and can feed back information and improvements to the team.
Best,
Neeraj
